Fibromialgia y Vitamina D

Recently papers have been published that show fibromyalgia patients with low vitamin D concentrations are feeling fatigued, depressed and suffering from severe pain. Our research suggests that patients with fibromyalgia may have refractory pain that could be associated with vitamin D deficiency.

Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can present non renal manifestations (cutaneous, cardiopulmonary, hematological, hepatic, etc) who have previously failed other immunosuppressive therapies, in those who the MMF considers a therapeutic alternative. We present patients with SLE with severe manifestations non renal treatment with MMF.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients have higher risk for infections, such as tuberculosis, in some cases of active TB are due to reactivation of latent TB infection (LTBI) and have been described more commonly in the early phase of treatment with anti-TNF ? agents, due to mechanisms of action. In several studies with Rituximab in RA was not associated with an increased rate of serious infection. Objectives: We report 3 cases of patients with RA and latent tuberculosis (TB) infection or TB disseminated, they received Rituximab and follow-up 3 years.

Present evidence suggests that gout and hyperuricemia are associated with a number of serious and potentially life-threatening problems, including hypertension, renal disease, and coronary artery disease. Accordingly, more and better treatment options are needed for patients with gout and hyperuricemia. Objectives: We report 2 cases of patients with a history of gouty arthritis extending over several years refractory to conventional treatment and who received treatment with anti TNF?, etanercept.

The Primary Antiphospholipid Syndrome (PAPS) was described initially in women characterized by thrombosis and pregnancy morbidity, including fetal losses, at the present time the number of males is every greater who can present this one syndrome, with different characteristics and in some cases with greater severity than the women. In this study we described the clinical characteristic presented by a sample of Colombian males.

Duloxetina y FM

La FM caracterizada por la presencia de dolor crónico, generalizado, asociado a múltiples síntomas, que deterioran la calidad de vida de los pacientes, y presentando altas tasas de refractariedad al tratamiento. Duloxetina, inhibidor de la recaptación de serotonina, recientemente se aprobó para el uso en fibromialgia, por lo que en esta investigación buscamos comprobar el efecto de la duloxetina en pacientes con FM de la vida real.

There are been reports with cases of lupus induced for medicaments, like as hydrazine, chlorpromazine, isoniazid. Biologics agents develop autoantibodies and autoinmune like diseases including lupus-like syndromes. We report the case of two women, diagnosed with seropositive RA, who developed a lupus like syndrome treated with etanercept and received treatment with Rituximab.

Latin American population multicenter studies have found prevalence of hypovitaminosis D between 30% and 40%. The normal reference range for vitamin D in the human population have multiple variables and are not standardized for different populations, however, has determined that sufficient minimum range of 25OH vitamin D must be greater than 32 ng / ml (80nmol / L).
